How to Give to the Endowment

There are many methods by which you can make a contribution to the ZUMC Endowment. "Gifts of Income," e.g., cash, IRA assets, stocks & bonds, can be directed to existing endowment funds or used to establish a new fund (with a minimum gift of $10,000). "Gifts of Passing" represent legacy giving through beneficiary designations e.g., a bequest gift made in a will or trust, or paid-up life insurance policies.  All gifts, regardless of the amount, help to create an enduring legacy for ZUMC's ministries.

Below are just a few ways in which you can make a contribution to the ZUMC Endowment. Please consult with your financial advisor, estate lawyer, or plan administrator for more information about these forms of giving.

  • Bequests:  A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. You can gift a specific dollar amount or asset, a percentage of your estate, or the balance or residue of your estate.

  • Beneficiary Designation: You can designate our organization as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment, or bank account or your life insurance policy.

  • IRA Charitable Rollover: An IRA rollover allows people age 70 ½ and older to reduce their taxable income by making a gift directly from their IRA.

  • Gifts of Insurance: If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy.

  • Donor-Advised Fund: With a DAF, you can make gifts to charity during your lifetime, and when you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving.

  • Gifts of Stocks & Bonds: Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to our organization.

If you have made plans to include the church in your estate or retirement plans, please contact our church office at (317) 873-2623 to inform us of your intention. Alternatively, you can fill out the “Donor Intent Form” below. Please note that the “Donor Intent Form” is not legally binding; it is simply a way of communicating to our church your plans and the desired use for your gift.
