Welcomed from the Start

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. – Hebrews 13:2

When we first were exploring the idea of coming to ZUMC, Jerry & I were completely moved by how loving and welcoming Dianne Studebaker and the Stephen Ministry Leadership Team were to us. Dianne invited us to attend a Stephen Ministry meeting to just observe, and we did. That group was the most loving, authentic, bonded, sharing group we had ever experienced...and it still is. We knew very early that we wanted to be a part of this special ZUMC Stephen Ministry group.

Then, when we watched our first ZUMC online service, it was Pastors Dave and Kim sitting in chairs, face-to-face, talking about Stephen Ministry. We loved that sermon and once again knew we needed to make a change.

Then we walked inside the doors of ZUMC for the first time, and we were immediately greeted by Jim Gentry, who made us feel valued and appreciated, right from the beginning. Before long, we met Marlene and so many other people... and got involved in GriefShare, SAMS, Stephen Ministry, Military Ministry, Welcome Desk, and made a whole new church family whom we love dearly. We are so grateful that we became members of ZUMC, and we hear so many great comments about how ZUMC is helping so many others. Thank you all!
