What We Believe
We believe in God, creator and sustainer of all; whose character is love, justice, peace, and hope.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate in the world, redeeming the world back to the heart and intentions of God.
We believe in a helping Holy Spirit that draws us, and lead us, deeper into Christ and God.
We believe, as does the United Methodist Church, that the mission of the church is to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
We believe, as Zionsville UMC, that we fulfill that mission by “lifting the human spirit to be touched by the Holy Spirit.”
We believe that to lift the human spirit we:
- Live love
- Inspire Hope
- Fill with Faith
- Transform the World
We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for faith and practice. We believe, as well, that decisions are best discerned when we consider: Scripture, Tradition, Experience, Reason.
We believe in the church as the body of Christ, his work and witness in the world. Furthermore, we celebrate a church of diversity and differences, for therein is the way to know the breadth of God’s life among us.
We believe that we are the Easter people, that resurrection and hope are central to our life together.
