Hi, my name is Mike Voigt and I work at ZUMC as the Facility Manager.  My job is to match people and events with the most appropriate space in the building or on the grounds, to ensure the best use of the facility.  I also do a lot of “behind-the-scenes” work to keep everything running smoothly.

My degree and background are in engineering, and, although I love to tinker, I spend much of my free time with friends and family.  I like to watch sports and am passionate about fishing, and I enjoy being around water.  In fact, it was a career with the US Navy that brought me to Indiana: after several years stationed on the West Coast and Persian Gulf, I welcomed the opportunity to move back to the Midwest.  I grew up in Wisconsin and my wife, Julia, is from Missouri. Our daughter, Nina, was born shortly after we moved to Indiana so we are proud to have a native Hoosier in the family.

Before I started working at ZUMC, I owned a home maintenance company.  I got to know many wonderful people in the Zionsville area through that work, as well as membership in the Kiwanis Club of Zionsville and Boone County Leadership.  During this time, I took a spiritual gifts assessment at church.  When the position of Facility Manager was created, I made a leap of faith.  My work at ZUMC allows me to combine engineering and leadership skills with the spiritual gifts of administration, serving, and encouragement, so that all of us can work together to be the best possible stewards of our beautiful facility.  I look forward to welcoming you to ZUMC.

“Each…should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)
