Stephen Ministry January Update
Sunday, December 23, 2007, 07:59 PM
Stephen Ministry provides for the needs of those who are hospitalized, terminally ill, bereaved, experiencing a job crisis, a new member of the community and/or church, disabled, homebound, lonely, divorced, in a spiritual crisis and/or looking for and needing a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers provide quality caring ministry for as along as the need is there. The mission of Stephen Ministry is to proclaim through word and deed the Gospel of Jesus Christ by nurturing, edifying, educating, and equipping the people of God who are called, gifted, and sent to be more effective servants who care for the needs of the whole person, mind, body, spirit. Thanks be to God. Meet another one of our Stephen Ministers:
TERI CROUSE My name is Teri Crouse. I felt God calling me to step up and take the training to become a Stephen Minister. It was complementary to another calling He was making in my life, and I just knew I needed to do this. Being a Stephen Minister is an opportunity to "give back" to the community and congregation. It is also a chance to use gifts that God has given me in service to Him; to offer a "cup of cool water" to His children who are hurting at a time they need someone to walk with them, to listen, to just be there. One of my favorite scriptures and one I use as a "breath prayer" is Philippians 4:13 - "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." I also keep close to my heart Isaiah 43:1b-2 "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” This tells us that God doesn't promise that bad things won't happen to us. But when they do, God will be there with us and keep us safe. Something you may not know about me is that I'm in my second semester of seminary.
Never outdated! “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9 Christian care is never outdated. God’s command that we love one another is the same now as it was thousands of years ago. How are you showing God’s love to others? Stephen Ministry is one way you can do that. A new training class for Stephen Ministers is starting soon.
Contact Delma Mindel (733-9018) to learn more about this ministry of the congregation and how to get involved.

This humorous, biblical, interactive class will offer personal evaluation in the areas of body, mind, spirit and relationships and give inspiration and instructions in how each person can better themselves in 2008.
