Attention Men

You may struggle with how to live as a Godly man in a secular world. Pastor Scott has some great insights using movies (and their inherent way of boiling down tough issues into a 2-hour period) as a basis for evaluating the question "Am I a good guy in this world?"

We're having another ZUMC men's movie night this Sunday night and we'd like you to join us. Please RSVP to Pastor Scott at styring@zumc.org so we'll have enough food.

Join Pastor Scott for a film, food and fellowship
August 30th from 5:00 -8:00 p.m.

ZUMC’s Got Talent!

ZUMC’s Got Talent!

Please join us this fall as we launch our annual stewardship campaign, with everyone
making their own contribution commitments for the church. This year’s campaign will
explore the expansion of our scope to more wholly celebrate giving Time, Talent, and
Treasure, and the recognition that stewardship is about praising God:

• Stewardship is the principle that recognizes that everything belongs to God
• Stewardship is an integral part of the faith journey pursued by every Christian

This year’s campaign will utilize a multi-faceted approach for the distribution of pledge
cards and other information, including a mailing, e-mails, the church’s website, and a
fellowship gathering (Talent Show). The intent is to explore opportunities to joyfully
give our time, talent and treasure.

All of us have special skills. God wants to fill us with his Spirit so we will use
those skills for his glory. Think about your special talents and abilities and the
ways you could use them for God’s work in the world. As you focus on helping
and giving to others, God will show you the best ways to do it and give you
wisdom to accomplish the task.
(From the NIV Application Notes for Exodus 28:3)

It’s Show Time!
Come one, come all. In order to celebrate the many talents in our congregational family,
the Stewardship committee is sponsoring a talent show on October 3, 2009. The talent
show will also feature information on several of the ministry opportunities at ZUMC.
Please contact Bob Dralle (872-5546), Cindy Dralle (872-5546), or Ted Baker (733-
4305) for additional information on the talent show.

Pledge cards will be collected starting mid-September until October 11. They will also
be collected at the talent show.

Important Change notification—18 month cycle for this campaign
ZUMC is changing from a calendar year to a fiscal year for budget development.
Therefore, this campaign will cover January 2010 through the end of June 2011.
Subsequent campaigns will cover the 12 month cycle of July through June.

If you have not done so, please fill out the e-mail portion of the attendance card on Sunday as we are trying
to collect as many e-mails as possible. E-mailing information allows us to limit postage and paper costs,
and be good stewards of our resources.

Campaign Chairman

Interfaith Hospitality Week

Hospitality Week at ZUMC Needs Your Help!
It isn’t hard to get volunteers to help with food or activities, but we must have more leadership or we can’t be a part of Interfaith in the future. What we need specifically are two people willing to co-chair the week, a co-chair for each of the sub areas of food, activities, and overnight supervision. Without this Jesus’ call to help those in need as if we were helping Him will be missed by this congregation. Please, call me soon because we can’t sign-up for 2010 until these positions are filled. In His Service, Jo Flinn (873-2431)

The Wright Brothers

The Wright Brothers Perform August 9 @ ZUMC!
9 & 11:15 AM Services
It's impossible to put a defining label on the Wright Brothers musically, but one label that fits is that of a family band, both literally and figuratively. Their show is one that's been deemed appropriate for elected officials to the kid by the gazebo in the town square. Recognizing the group's role as ambassadors for the state of Indiana, the governor conferred on the Wright Brothers the state's highest honor, naming them Sagamores of the Wabash. It's a total package: tight harmonies, flawless instrumentation, and humor in a well-paced, polished, and wide-ranging show that's sure to please audiences of any age or musical taste. You'll soon see why Wright Brothers audiences end every show on the same note: "More!"
