What We Believe
E-mail Print PDF

  • We believe in God, creator and sustainer of all; whose character is love, justice, peace, and hope.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate in the world, redeeming the world back to the heart and intentions of God.
  • We believe in a helping Holy Spirit that draws us, and lead us, deeper into Christ and God.
  • We believe, as does the United Methodist Church, that the mission of the church is to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
  • We believe, as Zionsville UMC, that we fulfill that mission by “lifting the human spirit to be touched by the Holy Spirit.”
  • We believe that to lift the human spirit we:

                Live love

                Inspire Hope

                Fill with Faith

                Transform the World

  • We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for faith and practice.  We believe, as well, that decisions are best discerned when we consider:

                Scripture

                Tradition

                Experience

 Reason

  • We believe in the church as the body of Christ, his work and witness in the world.  Furthermore, we celebrate a church of diversity and differences, for therein is the way to know the breadth of God’s life among us.
  • We believe that we are the Easter people, that resurrection and hope are central to our life together.
